League of Legends - The Community

So I was talking to me friend the other night, trying to drag him back to LoL, when the community of the game came up.  I had mentioned the ability to mute players in game now and for him, that was game changing in his decision on whether or not to play again.  You see, he had decided to stop playing the game in the first place because of the community in the game.  Not because he didn't like the game anymore, or that it had grown boring.  Nothing to do with the actual game itself as a matter of fact.  The other people playing the game had reached a point of such immaturity and flat out bitchiness that he could not stand to interact with them anymore, so he quit.

So I thought it was something worth discussing.  At the point in which a good game is losing players because of the people playing the game, something needs to be done.  I'm not talking specifically about raging in game, I am planning another article specifically for that point later.

i am talking about the fact that your playing a game that in order for you to be successful, you have to rely on and trust the other 4 people in your team, and the fact that is about impossible.  You see behaviors that can spark arguments in PvP matches that will cause you to lose a game coming up in bot matches.  Seriously, I have seen people bitching about Kill Stealing in a beginner bot match.  No body gives a shit, they shouldn't give a shit even in PvP, a kill is a kill no matter who it goes to.

The trolls that run abundant in the game, messing games up, purposefully feeding and everything else they can do to get a rise out of the player base.  I have gotten to the point where the first moment a person starts to act off, they get muted.  And a game shouldn't be like that, not one that needs communication like LoL.

The tribunal is nice, but it is so easy to make another account if yours gets banned, even though most of the bans are not permanent.  It is something Riot needs to be concerned about, when a small portion of the player base is driving consumers away.

WoW - Gold for Achievement is at 7482 I believe, slow progress but working on it.

LoL - Summoner level of 27, 3 of my Ahri wins down, 97 more to go.

Smite

So my buddy gave me a beta key for Smite, which is a moba like LoL, but instead is locked into view just slightly higher than eye level over the should 3rd person.  Its puts you right down in the game, making everything a lot more frantic.  Still like LoL better, but Smite has some real possibilities.

Skyrim and such

Drug my way a little bit farther along in Skyrim today, would have helped if everything wasn't on the opposite  side of the map from where I have explored.  Spent half and hour stealth rolling across the map.  love the game, just spend far to little time playing it.

Picked up Borderlands GOTY edition from the steam sale, been playing that through with my buddy, has been fun to revisit the game.

Also, Eufloria, fun little indie game, for sale for cheap on steam.  Get it, play it.

Reddit and Ideas

So yesterday I was browsing through the LoL section on reddit, just seeing if there was anything there worth the time when a thread caught my eye.  The thread was someone saying that him and a couple of buddies were going to roll new LoL accounts out and play a single champion from Summoner level 1 to 30.  No other champ, just that one the whole way, and was asking for suggestions on which champ to play.

This got me to thinking and I was discussing with one of my friends about the idea.  If you had played a champion for that long then you would have the timing down to perfection, been able to perfect the build for them, should be able to play them near perfectly.  At least, assuming you were trying to and not just grinding away mechanically, which if you are and you have no desire to improve, please, just stop playing, you ruin the game for others.

It gave me an idea.  Now,I have no desire at all to start over at level 1.  I'm too close to the 30 mark now to back off and do it again.  But instead of the hap hazard method with which I have switched champions up to this point, I am going to make it an easy, solid number to follow.  Play a champion until I reach 100 PvP wins on them, then I can switch.  100 because it is a nice high number that takes a while to reach, especially if your not playing good.  It gives me plenty of time to perfect my play style on a champ, raising me above the average ability on said champ.  For the sake of sanity I am going to just start at the top of the list with Ahri and work my way down.

Weekend Updates

WoW - 9478 on the achievement.  To be fair, haven't really played all week.

Diablo 3 - Decided to nix the witch doctor grind for a bit, fired up with me on a monk and him on a demon hunter.  Got to something around 15, was almost to easy after what we are used to.

LoL - Summoner level 26, halfway to 27.  The big update being I finished my support Alistar runepage and am saving the IP for the blank runepage for AP Alistar, which so far has been terrifying.

Slow Day

Sorry guys, nothing much went on today, I was going to play some LoL, but the client bugged for the one game I had time to play, making it impossible to play.  After the game ended I was able to fire up a bot custom real quick and everything worked fine but it completely ruined my ability to play the game today.

Assorted Meanderings

Played Bulletstorm today, which is one of my more favorite FPS games.  This is purely for the campaign.  It is so completely over the top, with weapons that are so over done, I can't help but love the game.  It is a game that barrels headlong into all the sensitive subjects most games avoid and blatantly tries to offend as many people as possible, and is more awesome because of it.  Worth a play through by everyone, at least once.  Although I suppose if you are easily offended you should avoid...

Zyra isn't going to be on this patch, sadly.  I am going to try a glass canon Amumu this weekend, the potential to have over 1100 AP, I can't avoid playing with it just a little..

Gear of War 3

I have finally been dragging my ass through the campaign on Gears 3.

A couple of things on this game.  This is probably one of those games I will spend way too much time playing, due to achievements.  Seriously 3.0 anyone.

But the story line itself leaves me wanting.  I find it entertaining while I am playing but I couldn't tell you anything about it once I step away from it which is very odd for me.  It is just not a memorable experience.

Weekend Updates

WoW - So the official number for my progress is 9475/10000 and some change, the plus side being I am making a lot more money from everything I am selling in the progress.

LoL - Make it to summoner level 25 over the weekend, going something like 16 wins to 4 losses.  Did some playing over the weekend and found out you can build a AP Amumu with over 800 AP, which results is despair doing over 10% of their max life a second.  Squishy tho.

Diablo 3 - Hit 21 on the barb.  Pushed the Witch Doctor to 56 but we are effectively against a wall on those.  We have pushed into Act 2 Hell and are getting farmed more than we are farming.  Could be due to the whole level 30 gear still equipped thing.  Is bullshit that I have a helm on from Normal mode that I cant find and upgrade for in Hell mode.

Faffing

I really wish I had some updates today, instead I spent most of my day running errands and wishing I could play something.

Farming and Audiosurf

Re installed Audiosurf and been playing, for everyone that hasn't played that game, just go buy it, I think Steam sells it for like $10.  Well worth the money.

Also, still farming for Mind on my Money, I'll try to get actual numbers for the Monday update, have them at home but forget to put them on anything to be able to remember when I get here.

Dead Island

So, not much to speak on today, except for one little tidbit.

The challenges on Dead Island make leveling your second or third character trivial.  Was playing today and got one of the collectible challenges and the experience from it alone pushed me through 2 full levels.

On a side note though, all the info coming out about the reworks of Evelynn and Twitch, along with the teasers about Zyra are awesome.  I would write it up again, but Surrender at 20 has is summed up so nicely.

Weekend Updates

WoW - So while the number for the achievement hasn't changed much I have gained about 6k gold for the auction house on everything else I am picking up in the process.

LoL - Still grinding the IP for another rune page with Support Alistar, but I am sitting at something like 25 wins with him, out of maybe 35 games.

D3 - Barbarian is to 20, slow going there.  Witch doctor is 54, had to rework all of my spells to make me live in hell difficulty, a massive difficulty ramp up from nightmare.  I am now a fire Teemo.

Shift of Focus

Nothing yesterday, was my daughters birthday, so no work, no blog.

Hectic day resulted in my not accomplishing much.  Played a little Diablo 3, not much, just enough to realize that I feel the Barbarian's toolkit is very limited and repetitive.  Still something very fulfilling about it though.

The main thing is that I decided instead of bouncing around achievements on all my toons I am going to just run down the list, completing achievement chains, then switching to a different toon.  First on the list?  Got My Mind on My Money.  I'm currently at 9448.  I'm not rushing it, just using it as an excuse to go mindlessly farm, skinning and herbing as I go.  Which also means I am selling a lot of stuff, even in the pre-expansion slump.  I expect if I don't break and spend it on something to hit the gold cap at least once.  Since I don't have another Alliance character on that server, I will probably end up spending it then, but would be nice to touch the gold cap once before that happens.  I will probably find a use for the gold on the black market, since I expect this chain to take me forever.

New Vegas

So I got some time in today playing Fallout: New Vegas.

I understand I am more than behind to the ball on playing this game but since I tend to focus on WoW and LoL, with Diablo 3 thrown in now, any progress on other games suffer as a result.

It had been a fun process so far.  I played the game before but spent far too much time just playing around with it and cheats for it (PC version), to the point at which I had ruined the experience for myself.

But since I lost my save files when I re-installed windows over to the bigger, faster hard drive I decided I would go through and actually play this time, legit.  While it definitely ramps the difficulty up, to a level I don't remember Fallout 3 having, it has been fun.

But I doubt I will ever play hardcore mode.  I know someone who has and to me, it doesn't seem like it would be that fun of a trade off.  I am always the kind of person to do something just to prove I can, but not this time.

Weekend Updates

WoW - No big changes on this front, I am just mindlessly farming dragonkin in Twilight Highlands working on Got My Mind of My Money while farming leather.

Diablo 3 - Pushed into Hell Difficulty, it is like beating my head against the wall, a lot of work for very little visible progress.

LoL - Still working on the IP for support Alistar Rune page.
